Ontario PCs Investing $11 Million to Upgrade Recreation Infrastructure in Guelph

The Ontario PC government is protecting jobs and building stronger communities with a new $11 million investment in Guelph’s recreation facilities.

This funding will support the construction of the new South End Community Centre and the rehabilitation of the Lyon Outdoor Pool, giving families better access to world-class recreational spaces while boosting the local economy.

Our $10 million investment in the South End Community Centre will help deliver a 160,000 square-foot multi-purpose facility featuring:

  • Twin ice pads
  • A double gymnasium
  • An aquatic centre with lap and teaching pools
  • Multi-purpose rooms and community spaces

Once complete, the centre will serve as a hub for residents across Guelph, open seven days a week and offering programs that promote health, physical activity, and community connections.

We’re also investing $1 million to revitalize the Lyon Outdoor Pool, extending the life of this much-loved facility and ensuring families can enjoy safe outdoor aquatic programming for years to come.

These projects are part of the $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF) — a provincewide initiative to revitalize local facilities, grow the economy, and promote active, healthy living.

Under Premier Doug Ford and our PC team, we’re getting shovels in the ground and delivering results for Ontario families. By making record investments in infrastructure, we’re protecting Ontario jobs, strengthening our communities, and building a more resilient economy for generations to come.
